The sights and sounds of a Mecum Auction are so intoxicating and automotive artist David Snyder just had to get it down on canvas. The warm glow of the neon contrast with the hot TV lights. He wanted to capture the excitement of the auction, the way the lights reflect on the cars and the buzz of anticipation throughout the auction grounds. From the banter of the auctioneer and the yells of the grinders, to the roar of the engines and the sparkle and shine of some of the best cars from around the country...this is what fills the days and nights of the fabulous Mecum Auctions.
David actually completed the painting on sight during the Mecum Spring Classic in Indianapolis, Indiana in May. He was able to share his technique with on-lookers during the day prior to the auction of the painting. TV cameras documented and broadcasted the progress and completion of the painting.
