Max Hoffman Motors started importing European cars to the U.S. in 1947. By 1948 he was the first to import Volkswagen and Jaguar to the American market. One of his greatest successes was the Porsche. In 1955, Max Hoffman convinced Porsche to cut the roof off and lighten the car.. .the Speedster was born!

In this 1955 scene, you see Porsche speedsters and Continentals in the Park Avenue dealership. The interior furnishings were designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
